Finished Objects!

Yes, I have raised some items from the depths of the UFO pile!

I finished the Bionic Blue-Green quilt. The quilt is made for my mother-in-law, who just had knee replacement surgery 2 weeks ago. She's now known as the Bionic Woman. This lap quilt should keep her toasty warm while she recuperates! To see photos of the quilt in-progress, visit here.

I also tried out the decorative stitch feature on the new machine, using it to create special touches on pillowcase gifts for my sister and her friend.

I think Marc was trying to express his satisfaction that I've completed a number of things in a very short period of time, hence the "thumbs up". If you look closely, you can see their names, right below the decorative stitches.

I spotted this fabric online, at Hancock's of Paducah. When my family came to visit last July for Canada day, my sister's friend Lisa was obsessed with the biligual culture here in Ottawa. It took me a while to find a fabric with French on it, but I finally spotted this one by Michael Miller. tres bien, non?

A SALE!!!

I was able to work on the blue-green quilt this weekend. I've been having some problems with the last block; the seams won't line up properly, so I'm in the process of taking it apart to re-sew. I'll attach the borders, then on to the quilting!

I also went on an excursion to the quilt store. My intentions were to run in, and run out - all I needed was some batting (for the blue-green quilt) and some tear away stippling paper. However, when we walked in what did we see? A SALE!! On fabric and patterns! So, of course, I exclaimed "Look, Marc: A SALE!". He was ecstatic. Really. the 5 minute errand turned into a 1 1/2 hour drool fest.

I couldn't resist a knitting bag pattern and some fabric. ON SALE!!!

From left to right: swirly fabric to make couch throw pillow covers, Christmas-y fabric for festive couch throw pillow covers, and some red wool. I have good intentions of making a Christmas fireplace mantel.

The nice saleslady talked me out of the stippling paper. Apparently, stippling should be like handwriting. Everyone develops their own style of stippling with practice.

My basketcase sweater has received some attention as well, while watching the "Sound of Music" on Sunday. Boy, that movie is long (but good)! There's something comforting about old movies.

So tiiiired

I have been busy with crafty things, but with the new job, I'm mentally exhausted. I'll post tomorrow, with pictures. I promise.
